More Stripes

Friday, July 29, 2011

Bold black and white stripes remind me of prison uniforms, haha. I always picture that over orange jumpsuits. Nevertheless, when I saw this skirt on Lilly, I had to have it. So after browsing through the skirt section on forever21.com, I only found this and this, which looked completely different on the model. As it turns out, it was the right skirt. Size M probably would have fit me better, but L was the only one I could find in the store and the fit wasn't too bad. I like how I can wear it longer for the pencil-skirt look.

Happy Friday!

  3. Really cute! and I'm amazed that both the skirts you posted were like $6. I thought F21 stuff was getting expensive these days!

The shape is simple enough that you can just take in the sides with a sewing machine if it's too big. Just don't make it TOO tight though, hehe

Anyway, super cute. I love how you layered the tank, I totally thought it was a belt!

  4. Wow, what a great way to blend all these affordable labels together - you couldn't even guess where everything came from because it looks so well put together. I'm a fan!

  5. omg i have that skirt too. it was super cheap at f21 so i couldn't passed up the deal. however i haven't worn it out yet cuz it kinda shows off the booty and i don't wanna draw attention that way haha. but yours doesn't look too tight so it's way more appropriate! :)

  7. The best and worst thing about following style blogs - coveting items girls are wearing! I love your take on the skirt. And if you are wearing an L at F21, I would never even be able to squeeze into that skirt!

  8. I'm really into stripes lately too. (I wrote tripes earlier and I'm glad I caught it. lol) I can't imagine how a size L would fit you, it probably just "sits" on your hip? Anyway, love the outfit.

  17. @kimmie - I've noticed their price increases too, but perhaps this simple cotton + design didn't warrant for a high selling price. I'm definitely not complaining ;) There is some gap in the fabric around my stomach area, but I simply folded the excess fabric over and it worked wonders. Voila, no sewing needed. Thank you for the tip!

@Anna - I was this close to doing a post on accidentally dressing in affordable clothes... until I realized the bag I had on doomed my plans :)

@Sunshine - Your comment made me glad I sized up :) Can't wait to see you wear yours -- if you've got a booty, show it off!

@Lilly's Style - Thank you so much for your help!

@eek - I bet you can fit into the large. It just will be tighter on you if you're bigger than me... that isn't necessarily a bad thing :)

@Vicky, @kileen - There's a slight gap around my stomach area, but I folded the fabric down a few inches to get rid of the fabric wrinkling. The stretchy fabric helps keep everything in place.

@sharon lei - Silly me forgot to hang up the skirt after washing.. so I think it actually shrunk a little. Probably fits more like a medium now. A good thing or bad? I guess I'll find out the next time I wear it.
